HOME CHURCH GROUPS
Don't think of Home Church groups as a one night 'event' or meeting - We need to see them as small communities, a network of friendship and support.
Advantages of Home Church groups:
- Everyone can play a part
- Friendships can grow easily
- New people can easily be brought in
- Sharing of life, problems, needs, etc.can be done more realistically
- Teaching and praying can naturally respond to real needs and questions
- Prayer and breaking of bread can be more 'real'
- New gifts can be developed and used
Twelve things you can do in a Home Church group:
- Be committed to a group of believers who are seeking to follow Jesus for real
- Be involved with each other outside of 'meetings' (visit, phone, have breakfast, play pool, pray, etc.)
- Pray, praise, worship and break bread together
- Learn how to use and understand the Bible
- Learn how to share your faith with others
- Be an encourager of other people in the group
- Ask God to help you to use spiritual gifts (eg, teaching, practical help, prophecy, healing)
- Be real about problems, and honest about feelings...
- ...then help each other: encourage, support and pray for one another
- Make mistakes without feeling bad about it: you're among friends
- Ask questions about things you don't understand
- Help each other to reach out in love to people outside the church
